CENTs is an internet-based trading network which allows participants to buy and sell goods and services, skills and time with each other without the need for money. The system keeps a record of your credits and debits to record incomings and outgoings, just like a bank account. The community exchange creates a mutually supportive network of people helping each other. You can help other people or they can help you in lots of different ways – such as gardening, home help, running errands, office work, providing transport or helping someone learn a new skill.
The project is well underway and is building in numbers. We now have over 250 active members and continue to grow every week. But that’s not the limit – it’s also possible to trade with interstate and even overseas Community Exchange System members as the system is international.

The CENTs project was launched at the Organic and Sustainability Festival in Penguin on the 25th of March 2012 however didn’t get underway until January 2013 due to red tape. Skills Tasmania granted NWEC some funds towards piloting this Community Exchange project.
With Community Exchange you will be working with a group of committed individuals who are joined together for a common good. It connects you to the best in people because it creates a system that connects unmet needs with untapped resources. To see what happens each week when you are part of CENTs is deeply fulfilling especially if you are helping to make it run.
To register for an account with CENTs is FREE. http://www.nwcents.org
